They are (in my mind) the future of storage. The downside are the costs. You can get a good Intel Postville X25-M G2 for around 200 Euro. I've got 2 of them and put them into my Mac Pro. Speeding up the Mac Pro is not just a matter of faster HDs or SSDs, current software uses, thanks to OpenCL, your GPU a lot, but without that you're maybe screwed. Another addition to my Mac Pro is a EVGA GeForce GTX285 which speeds the Mac Pro as well. By overhauling the network a bit, I've switched to Macs completely. This video shows the arrival and a few indoor scenes of the new (and currently) largest Apple Store in Germany. I apologize for some very shaking scenes. The camcorder is simply too light and iMovie was not able to reduce this... ;) Was it worth to drive so far for this event? Not really ;) But it was simply fun - and that is what counts in my opinion. In this case, I've disabled the comment function (needs my approval), because I saw that a lot people are simply leaving "dumb" comments.
